Minister of Economics and Innovation Aurin Armonait will meet with representatives of science and business the start-up community in Kaunas on Friday and will be interested in the development prospects of Kaunas Science and Technology Park. The Minister will also visit the Aleksotas Innovation Industrial Park. Located in a strategically convenient place in the middle of Lithuania Kaunas and its district have recently shown a real example of entrepreneurship the ability to attract investment and the development of a science and creative community open to innovation. It is important that this breakthrough does not stop therefore we must look for ways to strengthen the maturity of innovative companies and strive to make them more competitive in foreign markets and increase exports of products and services creating high added value says Minister A. Armonait. During the visit to Kaunas Science and Technology Park KMTP the issues relevant to this institution will be discussed how to ensure the sustainable development of KMTP infrastructure and resolve the issues of renting premises owned by the state. The Minister will also be interested in the parks development plans and opportunities to implement new projects. Currently KMTP operates more than 100 companies in the field of information technology engineering health medicine social innovation future energy and sustainable chemistry. According to the indicators of investment in research and experimental development which are probably the best indicator of the innovativeness of enterprises this indicator in the enterprises operating in KMTP last year reached as much as 8.15. In Lithuania these investments in the private sector accounted for 0.43 and in the EU for 1.42. One of the main goals of KMTP is to help strengthen the competitiveness of innovative companies in international markets and increase the export of products and services. The project Kaunas Aleksotas Innovation Industrial Park which has been recognized as an important project for the state aims to attract high value-added production investments create conditions for the development of research and experimental development and innovations. The project is expected to run in three phases until 2046. will attract at least 90 million. At least 1100 new long-term jobs will be created.
