📋 Tender Overview
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications, through Provias Nacional, restored vehicular traffic on the Astobamba bridge, located at km 138+520 of the Pamplona - Cajatambo section (PE-16A), in the province of Cajatambo, Lima region, recovering connectivity and security on this important national highway.
This intervention is part of the road emergency response actions carried out after the damage caused by the intense rains and the increase in the flow of the Shapil River, which put the stability of the bridge structure at risk.
As a result of the work carried out, the vehicle pass has been enabled, once again allowing circulation in the area. However, Provias Nacional continues to carry out complementary tasks aimed at strengthening and protecting the infrastructure.
Among the ongoing actions are the rockfilling and channeling of the river, with the aim of preventing damage from future floods, as well as the installation of road guards and road signage elements to improve the safety of users. Likewise, additional technical interventions are developed to strengthen the bridge structure and ensure its resilience against climate events.
It should be noted that structural protection work, cleaning of excess material and stabilization of the channel were previously carried out, which made it possible to mitigate risks and advance in the recovery of passability in the sector.
The Astobamba bridge plays a key role in the connectivity of the area, facilitating the transfer of people and products, as well as the development of local economic activities.
In this sense, users are urged to drive with caution and respect the signage and instructions of personnel in the area, while complementary work continues.
Provias Nacional reaffirms its commitment to continue working on the maintenance of the non-concessioned National Road Network, prioritizing the safety of users and the connectivity of the country.
