📋 Tender Overview
Various public entities coordinate actions to consolidate the implementation of the National Biological Diversity Strategy and strengthen the monitoring of the commitments assumed by Peru. The Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) led a work day with representatives of various sectors of the State to strengthen the implementation of the National Biological Diversity Strategy (ENDB) to 2050 and consolidate intersectoral articulation that will accelerate compliance with the national biodiversity goals by 2030 and the international commitments assumed by Peru.
During the meeting, progress was made in the process of preparing technical sheets to measure the countrys progress, strengthen the monitoring of sectoral actions and improve the monitoring of biodiversity goals.
The general director of Biological Diversity of MINAM, Mirbel Epique, highlighted that the main challenge is to integrate and make visible the actions that public institutions are already developing in favor of biodiversity. As a country we have been promoting actions to conserve and recover our ecosystems for many years. The challenge now is to articulate these efforts, make their results visible and demonstrate the progress that we are achieving together, he stated.
Articulation to accelerate goals
The meeting made it possible to identify opportunities to improve coordination between public entities and recognize initiatives that, although they have been implemented under different approaches, contribute directly to the fulfillment of the objectives of the ENDB and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Likewise, the need to diversify financing sources for biodiversity was addressed in the face of the progressive reduction of some traditional international cooperation mechanisms. In this context, MINAM has been promoting innovative instruments, such as biodiversity credits, habitat banks and other mechanisms aimed at mobilizing investments for the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of ecosystems.
During the day, representatives from SANIPES, Agro Rural, ANIN, PRODUCE, OEFA, MINSA, IMARPE, SERNANP, INAIGEM, SENASA, DICAPI, among other entities, shared technical contributions and agreed on the importance of completing the technical sheets in a timely manner, a key tool to consolidate the implementation of the National Biological Diversity Strategy.
With this initiative, MINAM reaffirms its leadership in the articulation of public policies for the conservation of biodiversity and its commitment to work in a coordinated manner with the different sectors of the State to accelerate the fulfillment of national goals by 2030 and contribute to the global objectives of nature protection.
