Innovation Saskatchewan has launched the Agtech Commercialization Readiness (ACRE) program, a new funding program that helps Saskatchewan agtech companies bring innovative technologies to market faster. ย
ACRE provides up to 30,000 in funding for on-farm pilot projects that connect Saskatchewan agtech companies with producers and industry partners. Through these partnerships, companies can test and refine technologies in real-world agricultural environments, gather valuable industry feedback and build relationships with potential customers. ย
Participating producers and industry partners gain early access to emerging technologies, helping them evaluate new solutions, address operational challenges and improve productivity before products enter broader commercial markets. ย
Saskatchewan is home to some of the worlds most innovative agtech companies developing solutions for the future of agriculture,ย Minister Responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan Warren Kaeding said. By helping more Saskatchewan-made technologies reach the market, ACRE will create new economic opportunities and strengthen Saskatchewans leadership in agricultural innovation. ย
ACRE builds on the successful Made In Saskatchewan Technology (MIST) program, adapting its proven pilot-project model to address the unique needs of Saskatchewans agtech sector. MIST has helped Saskatchewan startups such as Luxsonic Technologies, SolusGuard and Offstreet advance innovative technologies through pilot projects.ย
For many agtech companies, access to real-world testing can make the difference between a promising idea and a commercial success, Innovation Saskatchewan CEO Kari Harvey said. ACRE will help more Saskatchewan companies take that next step, while creating opportunities for producers and industry partners to evaluate and adopt innovative solutions. We are excited to see the new partnerships and technologies that emerge through the program. ย
By adapting this proven model to the agtech sector, ACRE will help more Saskatchewan companies move innovations from development to commercialization and adoption and strengthens Saskatchewans tech and agriculture sectors. ย
Cattle producers are the original innovators, and producers are increasingly interested in using innovative tools with practical, on-farm applications that can address concerns such as animal identification, environmental sustainability, water quality, animal health, and forage productivity,ย Saskatchewan Cattle Association Research, Chair Christine Strube said. The SCA is extremely pleased to see this type of investment in innovation that can be adopted on-farm to improve production efficiency.ย
