π Tender Overview
Entering the end of the rainy season the Ministry of Environment and Forestry KLHK together with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology BPPT conducted rain engineering to wet peat through Weather Modification Technology TMC in the Riau Province region. This effort was carried out on the recommendation of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency BMKG because they saw the potential for the formation of rain clouds is still large. This rain engineering is carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in order to fill the reservoirs canals and wet the peat so they will not dry out when summer is predicted to reach its peak in the June to August period. We got instructions from the Minister of the Environment peat must be moistened as an effort to prevent forest and land fires in Riau Province. This rain foundation is part of the endeavor in addition to the work of the field team on land which every day always conducts patrols and ground check hotspots said the Director of Karhutla KLHK Control Basar Manullang to the media crew Thursday 5212020.Rain engineering is needed because it sees that the majority of peatland water level monitoring points TP-TMAT in peatlands in Riau Province have shown a level of alert and even danger. Rain engineering is part of prevention efforts not blackouts. Because it is preventive then we do it in the rainy season while there are still rain clouds said Basar. It is expected that with sufficient water supply in canals and reservoirs and peat is always wet the threat of forest and land fires in Riau Province can be reduced. The implementation of weather engineering in Riau Province is scheduled for 15 working days starting from May 14-28 2020. As of May 20 in Riau Province six flight sorties have been carried out with a total of 4.8 tons of NaCl seedlings.Based on TRMM satellite imagery rain engineering has produced 17.1 million m2 of water that has fallen in areas with the greatest potential of rain clouds. Rain engineering has also begun to wet peat with moderate to moderate intensity which has occurred in most areas of Riau such as in the districts of Siak Bengkalis Meranti Islands Pelalawan and Indragiri Hilir. This rain engineering is only done in certain areas peat priority and there are rain clouds. The number 17.1 million m2 of water is the result of engineered rain so natural rain outside the seeding area is not claimed by us. This amount is quite successful in raising the Groundwater Height or TMAT from the hazard level to safe explained Basar.Besides wetting peat as a preventative aspect it is hoped that the additional water supply in the canals and reservoirs resulting from weather engineering will make it easier for land teams to get water supply to extinguish when a fire occurs. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry together with other task force teams assisted by partners prioritizing rain engineering in various locations in provinces that are very prone to forest and land fires such as Riau Jambi and South Sumatra for the Sumatra region.Rain engineering is carried out with the Casa A-2107 aircraft owned by the Indonesian Air Force that carries salt and seed it around a rain cloud with an altitude of around 10000-12000 feet. Seeding salt by approaching Cumulus type clouds has a high risk. The flight crew will try to quickly sow salt and not infrequently have to deal directly with weather factors that are difficult to predict. Based on satellite data the number of hotspots in Riau Province from 1 January to 20 May 2020 recorded 271 points with a confident 80-100. This number decreased when compared to the same period last year which reached 503 points. There are currently no hotspots recorded. Hopefully we can keep up with solid teamwork. The Minister of LHKs message to us even though in the Covid-19 atmosphere especially fieldwork related to forestry and forestry anticipation must continue. The entire ground team from Manggala Agni to this day also continues to work while still implementing the Covid protocol. We continue to work with enthusiasm for the sake of the Red and White closed Basar.
