Indonesia was elected as a member of the Postal Operations Council POC at the Universal Postal Union UPU for the 2022-2025 period in the election that took place on the sidelines of the 27th UPU Congress in Abidjan Ivory Coast 2508 2021.Indonesia managed to occupy one of the eleven seats in Group IV South Asia and Oceania out of a total of 20 countries that nominate. In the election which took place in secret ballot Indonesia received 91 votes from a total of 154 countries present and had the right to vote. Active Role For World Postal System ReformUPU is a specialized agency of the United Nations that facilitates cooperation between governments and state postal operators. The UPU is responsible for coordinating postal policies and systems among its member countries.The Indonesian Ambassador - Dakar who is the Head of the Indonesian Delegation Dindin Wahyudin said The election of Indonesia as a member of the UPU POC is a testament to the international worlds confidence in Indonesias active role so far and in the future in the development of global postal services. In addition the election of Indonesia as a member of the POC UPU has a strategic significance for the national interest of Indonesia especially in support of connectivity and development in Indonesia through the postal service advanced and innovative. As a member of the POC Indonesia has the right to fight for the interests of the national postal order to diakomod ation by UPU. Indonesia also has the opportunity to determine the direction and strategic plans of global postal services especially in reforms towards postal serviceseffective relevant and integrated with the development of information and communication technology .The UPU POC consists of 48 countries representing 5 regional groups namely group 1 America group 2 Eastern Europe and North Asia group 3 Western Europe group 4 South Asia and Oceania and group 5 Africa. . With Indonesias success in occupying one of the seats in group 4 Indonesia can also represent the interests of countries in the Region in the current issues of the UPU such as UPU reform.Previously Indonesia was elected as a member of the Council of Administration in the 2017-2020 period in the elections held at the 26th UPU Congress in Turkey in 2016 and became a member of the Postal Operations Council in the period 1957-1999 2019-2012 and 2013- 2016.
