π Tender Overview
Implementation allows mobilizing stranded passengers, guaranteeing the operation of basic citizen services and repairing the landing strip. In a rapid articulation of efforts, the Ministry of Defense (Mindef) marked an important milestone for the province of Purus, in the Ucayali region, by strengthening connectivity through the implementation of an air bridge intended to serve and protect 43 native communities located in areas of difficult access.
These actions allowed the transfer of more than 10 tons of supplies for the school feeding and glass of milk programs; in addition to the shipment of five cylinders of tar to rehabilitate the Purus landing strip, and about 200 people who were stranded in Pucallpa due to lack of connectivity were returned.
Mindef, through the Peruvian Air Force, deployed Twin Otter, Spartan C-27 aircraft and MI-17 helicopters from Lima and Iquitos to Atalaya, to later travel to Puerto Esperanza, while the rehabilitation work on the airfield runway is completed. The inoperability of this infrastructure had prevented the entry of large and medium-weight aircraft to provide basic services and carry out aeromedical evacuations.
Given this, the director of the Federation of Native Communities of Purus (Feconapu), Alfredo del Aguila Melendez, expressed his recognition to the Defense sector, highlighting that this action not only represents a significant investment of resources for the deployment of said aircraft, but also timely support to all communities in the face of an urgent need.
The entire population is extremely grateful to the Ministry of Defense, because they are supporting the population that needs it most. These are good-hearted actions and it was the institution that showed solidarity with us, he said.
This effort reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of Defense, through the Armed Institutions, to continue contributing to the well-being and development of the country.
