πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

Today, the consortium was launched by AS Metrosert, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Foundation (EIS) and the Estonian Electronics Industry Association (EETL) in the light of the development of local technology companies, in the light of the crucial chip center.

The Chip Center is a strategically important project for Estonia, which aims to support companies and start -ups in developing their design capabilities and improving their skills in the field of chip technology. The budget of the Chip Center for the next four years is EUR 2.4 million, funded by the EU Digital European Program and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
Created at the Metrosert Applied Research Center, the chip center will provide support for chips design and pilot production, focusing on three main areas: hardware security, chip testing and safety, and functional verification.
According to Erkki Kelda, Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry, creating a chip center is an important step in the development of high-tech production and increasing the competitiveness of the economy.
It is difficult to imagine todays life without microchips, they are found from the phone and the car to the toothbrush and the refrigerator. If we want competitive products to be developed in Estonia and increase the proportion of high -tech industry, it is necessary to grow and provide them with the necessary services.
Experts will be hired to consult and provide technical support. Together with universities, there are also courses for engineers interested in chip technology. In addition, relations are developed both within the chip industry and helping to find investment opportunities. Support is also provided with software and hardware capabilities and tests.
Indrek Tulp, a member of the Metrosert Board and head of the Center for Applied Research, admitted that the development of chip technology is key in terms of both product development and international competitiveness. Chip technology is an area where there is intense international competition and it is crucial for Estonian companies that we have the necessary development opportunities and competencies. The chip center to be created will help to fill the current gap by providing companies with support for knowledge -intensive product development and allowing them to stay at the forefront of technological development.
The Estonian electronics and defense industry will develop the chip center more broadly. In doing so, the combination of EIS services and development grants with the capabilities of metrosert chip technologies helps to move the field vigorously, increasing the international competitiveness of both industry and end -product developers. The knowledge of Eethli and the good connection with the membership ensures a broad impact throughout the sector.
Chipplet gives Estonian technology companies, including the defense industry, the tools to create more cost-effective electronic systems. It concerns products parameters such as performance, power consumption, safety, dimensions, weight and masses for mass products. -Jaan Raik, the coordinator of the Design Center.
The Chip Center is part of the initiative of the European Union, which creates similar centers for each Member State that forms a pan -European network, giving Estonian companies access to competencies and best practices in other countries. Companies can contact the project coordinator Jaan Raig () on the topics related to the Chip Center.
