π Tender Overview
The evaluation process also incorporates a diagnosis that collects the perception of the population, allowing direct knowledge of the situation in the districts near the airport. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) reported that a specialized technical evaluation is underway on the acoustic impact generated by the operations of the Jorge Chavez International Airport, with the aim of strengthening socially responsible and environmentally sustainable aeronautical management.
This process has the technical assistance of specialists from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which allows the development of an analysis under international standards and with the participation of high-level experts in airport noise management.
The study contemplates the review of the current regulatory framework, in order to determine whether the current regulations adequately respond to the operational reality of the airport and the conditions of its urban environment.
Likewise, international specialists have been auditing the acoustic measurement equipment and takeoff operational procedures, in order to verify compliance with international standards aimed at reducing the impact of noise in populated areas near the air terminal.
It is important to note that the Jorge Chavez International Airport already applies operational noise attenuation procedures, designed to reduce noise exposure in surrounding urban areas, which are part of the current technical framework.
To date, the technical team has carried out field visits and work meetings with municipalities, environmental entities and airline representatives, with the aim of collecting relevant information on the acoustic impact on the air terminal environment.
According to the established schedule, during the fortnight of April a new in-person meeting will be held to present the preliminary results of the evaluation, while at the end of the same month the final technical reports will be delivered, which will serve as a basis for making decisions aimed at improving airport noise management.
The MTC reaffirms its commitment to work with transparency and technical rigor, incorporating specialized international assistance to ensure that the development of aviation in Peru is carried out responsibly and in harmony with the environment of nearby communities.
