πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

Recently, the China Meteorological Administration released the first set of observation images from the Fengyun-4C satellite, which clearly captures dynamic information such as cloud systems, spectra, and solar flares. At an altitude of 36,000 kilometers above the equator, the Fengyun-4C satellite needs to establish an invisible space information highway between the satellite and the ground to ensure the rapid downlink of massive observation data and the precise uplink of ground commands, thereby guaranteeing the safe and stable transmission of vast meteorological data.

However, this connection between heaven and earth is far from smooth, as three insurmountable barriers constantly test the satellites communication capabilities. First, the transmission of massive data is like a speeding race car; while pursuing speed, it must also avoid data loss. Second, different payloads have different data transmission requirements, akin to customers with different tastes; a single communication channel is difficult to satisfy. More challenging is the complex interference ubiquitous in the space environment, which silently threatens the stability and reliability of the communication link.

To address these challenges, the Fengyun-4C satellite employs three core technologies to build a solid and reliable satellite-ground communication system, ensuring high speed and stability in data transmission.

Dynamic response to the challenges of massive data transmission: Integrated satellite-ground closed-loop control strengthens the foundation for stable high-speed data transmission.

In the face of the speed and integrity challenges of massive data transmission, the Fengyun-4C satellite is equipped with the countrys top-rate ground service data transmission channels and innovatively adopts an integrated satellite-ground link control scheme, akin to equipping space highways with an intelligent and efficient traffic control system.

The ultra-high-speed hardware configuration provides a solid hardware foundation for high-speed transmission. For example, the satellite is equipped with four Ka-band ground data transmission channels, each capable of supporting a transmission rate of up to 2.4 Gbps, equivalent to transmitting the data of a high-definition movie in one second. Gain matching technology, through precise coordination of ground simulation and on-orbit fine-tuning, effectively avoids signal distortion issues, ensuring that the signal quality of data transmission remains online. In response to potential link fluctuations caused by the complex space environment, the satellite reserves flexible gain adjustment commands, and the on-orbit closed-loop control mechanism ensures that the high-speed link remains stable regardless of the interference encountered. These measures collectively guarantee the rapid and lossless return of massive observation data to the ground, akin to adding an acceleration engine to data transmission.

Meeting diverse user needs: Multi-channel intelligent forwarding unlocks communication flexibility.

With seven forwarding channels, the Fengyun-4C satellite has become the Fengyun satellite with the most forwarding channels to date. The full coverage of multiple channels can simultaneously meet the differentiated data reception and business development needs of different users, like a multi-functional communication station. Particularly, the newly added DCP digital sampling channel significantly enhances the channels anti-interference capability through digital sampling and synthesis technology, achieving intelligent and flexible control of the communication link. Even in complex signal environments, it can ensure the stable forwarding of critical data, building a solid shield for data transmission and advancing communication services towards refinement and customization.

Resisting complex space interference: Multi-method measurement and control collaboration strengthens the satellite-ground command bridge.

The multi-method ground measurement and control communication system builds a reliable bridge for satellite-ground command interaction, ensuring precise control of the satellite. The dual approach of multi-channel redundancy design and high-speed command transmission technology allows ground control commands to be transmitted flexibly, efficiently, and reliably, seamlessly collaborating with high-speed data transmission and multi-channel forwarding technology to support the satellites smooth operation of 24-hour meteorological observation services. Even if a single channel experiences an anomaly, the satellite can ensure command transmission through other channels, achieving redundancy backup of the measurement and control link and building a safety net for command transmission, effectively resisting various interferences.

In the future, with the iterative upgrade of observation technology and the deepening application of multi-satellite networking trends, Fengyun satellites will continue to enhance communication capabilities, evolving from high-speed stability to intelligent collaboration, bringing us more timely and accurate meteorological information.
