The Literary Travelers strategy will develop its seventh intervention of the year and has already benefited more than 2,100 students from Metropolitan Lima and the provincesMore than 500 students, along with teachers and families from the Sagrada Familia APROVA Educational Institution in the Ancon district, will participate this Saturday, July 11, in a new day of the Literary Travelers strategy: House of Literature in your School, organized by the House of Peruvian Literature of the Ministry of Education.
The intervention, the seventh day during 2026 and the fourth in Metropolitan Lima, consolidates the presence of the strategy in educational communities with limited access to cultural offerings and strengthens the process of decentralization of the States cultural services.
During the activity, reading mediation experiences, oral narration, multimodal reading, theater, audiovisual projections, traditional games and poem whisperers will be developed, in order to promote the encounter between school, literature and families.
The director of the House of Peruvian Literature, Gary Marroquin, highlighted the importance of the activity that seeks to guarantee access to reading and cultural experiences as part of the right to a comprehensive and quality education for children and adolescents throughout the country.
Literary Travelers seeks to convert each school into a meeting space for reading and literature, involving students, teachers and families. Our objective is to bring State services closer to the areas that need them most, said Marroquin.
Decentralization strategy
So far this year, Literary Travelers has reached educational institutions in Carabayllo, Puente Piedra, San Martin de Porres, Chincha Baja, Huaral and Canete, and has benefited more than 2,100 children and adolescents, as well as teachers and families from the participating educational communities.
The strategy combines literature, art, games and community participation, and involves students, teachers, mothers, fathers and caregivers in building reading environments inside and outside of school. Likewise, it has the coordination of local governments, educational institutions and youth organizations, such as the National Youth Secretariat.
For this year, the House of Peruvian Literature plans to intervene in 15 educational institutions in Metropolitan Lima and Lima Provinces; reach more than 4,000 direct beneficiaries, and consolidate a network of reading communities in territories historically far from the main cultural circuits of the country.
