Around 80 executives and employees from technical and departmental directorates are participating from 25 to 28 October 2020 in a Workshop in Decameron on the Education Management Information System EMIS. This essentially involves taking a mid-term review on the implementation of the EMIS and agreeing on the strategy and protocol for data collection. At the initiative of the Coordination of the National Technical Team CETN for the development of the SIGE comprising the Planning and External Cooperation Directorate DPCE of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training MENFP the Studies and Programming Unit UEP and the Information System Unit USI technicians and executives from the various central and departmental entities of the ministry are taking part in this meeting around the new approach to management and data collection in the ministry.According to the conceptual document drawn up by the organizers this activity should make it possible to establish an initial assessment on the implementation of the EMIS to allow participants to take ownership of the various technical and management choices and to collect comments and suggestions for the development of this database. At the center of the discussions rich in interaction three key documents were presented to the audience. These include the new data collection strategy the Common Data Repository and the Governance Protocol. With the technical assistance of the Haitian Institute for Training in Educational Sciences IHFOSED as a consulting firm with CETN the documents presented by professors Roller St-Pierre and Ronald Jean Jacques allowed all participants to better understand this important shift made by the MENFP in the management and collection of data.Aluc Barthold director of the USI retraced the journey accomplished since the creation of the SIGE by presenting all the actions carried out over the last six months with the support of the highest authorities and all the technical and departmental departments which are actors well involved in every aspect of the implementation. This tool belongs to everyone according to the head of the USI and its success also depends on the involvement of all.The work of reflection and sharing then continued in Workshops where all the participants were able to produce their remarks and suggestions with a view to improving the texts submitted for their assessment.Beyond these documents we must also highlight other presentations by Harold Narcisse much appreciated by the participants during the third working day focusing in particular on the integration of school maps of the Far North in the EMIS the training of MENFP executives in technology and SIGERH specifications. For the coordinator of CETN Dens Metellus this Workshop is of capital importance for the renovation of the education sector and the ministry. The Minister and his cabinet award a prize to this activity for the future of the system. It is time according to him for the ministry to be endowed with a reliable database capable of providing all the necessary information for decision-making at the strategic level and for project management. It is also a matter of being able to respond to all requests from partners on the system and on the actions carried out by the MENFP added Mr. Pierre. For his part the CEO Dr. Meniol JEUNE who closely followed the work especially during the day of Tuesday October 27 applauded the work done so far by CETN.
