π Tender Overview
At its meeting today the government supported the Ministry of Transports proposal to amend Act No. 13/1997 Coll. on land transport. The key change is the abolition of the automatic valorisation of the prices of motorway stamps. The proposal will now be discussed in the Chamber of Deputies. The amendment is expected to take effect from January 1 2027.
Since 2023 the price of an annual highway stamp has increased by 1070 crowns i.e. by more than 70 percent. Only a few goods or services have become so significantly more expensive in the same period. We have reached a situation where the price is approaching Austria which has a better highway network and significantly higher purchasing power of the population. I do not consider such a development to be correct. Therefore we propose that the price of highway stamps should not increase next year said Minister of Transport Ivan A cooper.
If the amendment is supported by legislators the prices of highway stamps for 2027 should remain at the same level as this year:
annual highway stamp: CZK 2570
30-day highway stamp: CZK 480
10-day highway stamp: 300 CZK
1-day highway stamp: CZK 230
At the moment the current amendment maintains discounts for low-emission vehicles i.e. electric cars hydrogen vehicles plug-in hybrids and CNG and LNG vehicles. The Ministry of Transport thus reflected comments arising from the interdepartmental comment procedure and subsequent communication with the European Commission regarding the National Recovery Plan.
At the same time a senate proposal to change the parameters of the one-day highway stamp is also in the legislative process. This should not be tied to a specific calendar day but would be valid 24 hours from the moment of purchase. The State Transport Infrastructure Fund as administrator of the system of electronic highway signs and the state enterprise CENDIS which operates it for the state are already preparing the necessary system modifications.
The official e-shop for the purchase of electronic highway stamps is now available at edalnice.gov.cz. The transition to the unified state domain gov.cz is intended to make it easier for drivers to recognize the official website and to protect them from purchasing on sites that imitate the state e-shop and charge unnecessary fees for mediation.
