"The Free State is continuing to massively push forward the relocation of authorities to rural areas - good news for people all over Bavaria. I am particularly pleased that we can give the starting signal for the new office building in Marktredwitz today! This is another visible sign of the strength of our future and innovation region of Upper Franconia. In the future, part of the State Management Academy for Nutrition, Agriculture and Forestry and a branch of the State Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying will find a new home in the new building. The Free State is investing around 13.7 million euros in this! Whether strengthening our region, relieving the burden on major cities, improving local infrastructure or creating new jobs close to the people - the positive effects of the relocation of authorities are numerous and varied. I am pleased that the city of Marktredwitz, the entire region and all of Upper Franconia will benefit even more from this in the future," emphasized State Secretary for Finance and Homeland Martin Schöffel at the start of the construction work in Marktredwitz.
"Now that the construction work has started, a very important 'milestone' has been reached. Until now, the employees of the State Management Academy for Nutrition, Agriculture and Forestry and the eGovernment BayernServer service center have worked in several separate buildings. I am very happy for everyone that from the end of 2025 they will be able to work together in a modern new building in a pleasant atmosphere. Apart from this better cooperation, we are also strengthening rural areas through the new construction project and the merging of the authorities. And the Marktredwitz location will be enhanced as a result," explained Agriculture Minister Michaela Kaniber at the groundbreaking ceremony in Marktredwitz.
As part of the relocation of the authorities, a modern office building is being built in Marktredwitz for around 25 employees of the IT service center as part of the State Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying as well as around 60 employees of the State Management Academy for Nutrition, Agriculture and Forestry. Around 75 percent of the future employees are already housed on site and in temporarily rented premises. The Free State of Bavaria is investing around 13.7 million euros in the new construction project with over 1,700 square meters of ultra-modern usable and office space. The completion of the building and the move in of the employees are planned for the end of 2025.
The IT service center of the Free State of Bavaria provides powerful and future-oriented e-government applications as well as central infrastructures for the operation of IT systems for the administration and the courts in Bavaria. The Marktredwitz location provides project-related support to the departments in the conception, development and implementation of procedures in the e-government area. In addition, the State Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying supports broadband provision in rural areas. Its areas of responsibility also include surveying and geoinformation in Bavaria as well as the provision of geographical data and maps.
The State Management Academy for Nutrition, Agriculture and Forestry supports the State Ministry for Nutrition, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism in managing the offices for nutrition, agriculture and forestry. It is a central training and continuing education institution and takes on numerous tasks in the areas of funding and sovereign enforcement. In particular, the implementation and management of a large number of funding programs is the task of the Marktredwitz location.
