Deutsche Bahn (DB) is currently experiencing a backlog in the workshop of DB Regio Ulm. The reasons for this include increased sick leave among staff and material supply bottlenecks for spare parts. As a result, vehicles cannot be made available and scheduled maintenance work cannot be carried out in time in some cases. DB Regio is therefore currently operating on some routes with a reduced number of seats or other vehicle types. Individual trips are omitted. DB expressly apologises to passengers for the current restrictions.
The following lines are mainly affected:
IRE 3 (Friedrichshafen Stadt/Singen—Basel Bad)
IRE 3 (Lindau-Reutin—Ulm Hbf)
RS 2/RS 21 (Ulm Hbf—Biberach (Riß) Süd)
RE 55 (Ulm Hbf—Donaueschingen)
RB 74 (Tübingen Hbf—Pforzheim Hbf)
IRE 6a (Stuttgart Hbf—Aulendorf)
From mid-February, more vehicles are to be used again and the situation for passengers will improve. Around 120 employees in the workshop are working flat out to reduce the backlog. Despite all efforts, it cannot be ruled out that there will still be capacity bottlenecks during rush hours. In addition, DB is continuing its personnel offensive. In 2023, DB Regio Baden-Württemberg brought 60 people on board in maintenance alone. More than 120 new employees are to be hired this year.

DB recommends that passengers check their desired connection on www.bahn.de or in the DB Navigator app before starting their journey. Possible alternative travel routes are also automatically displayed there.
