📋 Tender Overview
From now on, traffic on the B 15new between the A 92 and the Saalhaupt motorway triangle on the A 93 will flow completely in four lanes: On Friday morning, Bavaria's Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter< a i=2> the Ohu groundwater basin is opened to traffic. With its completion, the last building block of the B 15 between Regensburg and Landshut was put in place. The State Minister emphasized the importance of this happy day for the region and for all of Eastern Bavaria.
At the end of 2019, the B 15 was temporarily connected to the A 92 via the LA 7 district road. The Landshut motorway junction, which has now been released, now links all driving connections between the motorway and the federal highway in low-lying areas. “The completion of the Ohu groundwater basin is a significant milestone for the road infrastructure throughout Bavaria,” said Bernreiter.
In front of numerous guests, he expressly thanked the federal Autobahn GmbH for the construction of the B 15new and their important know-how. Bernreiter also praised the excellent cooperation with the Landshut district on the provisional connection via the district road.
The federal and state governments have invested heavily in the new B 15 over the years. The new road layout relieves the burden on the communities along the old B 15 and therefore leads to a reduction in traffic and noise in the town thoroughfares. Improving road safety and shortening travel times are further positive effects. When it goes into operation, the Free State will take over the previous B 15 into its administration as state road 2615. The construction of the B 15neu between the A 93 and the A 92 began in 2005, with the last construction phase from Ergoldsbach to the A 92, including the Landshut motorway junction, starting in 2016. The federal government will cover the construction costs for this section. Including the groundwater basin, they amount to around 210 million euros and are therefore below the planned cost framework.
The Ohu groundwater basin is an impressive example of civil engineering, stretching over almost a kilometer. The gravity tank was necessary because there is high groundwater in the Isar valley floor. The challenge of rainwater drainage is overcome by extensive operational technology housed in the blue operational building. The special traffic technology allows it to be closed to traffic in the event of flooding. In addition, the groundwater basin is monitored around the clock by the traffic and operations center of Autobahn GmbH in Freimann.
Bernreiter emphasized that the new B 15 will not end at the A 92: “A look into the groundwater basin shows that things continue here. Now the Landshut eastern bypass has top priority!”
