π Tender Overview
The analysis and research on plants of the Agricultural Technology Center LTZ Augustenberg in Karlsruhe will in future take place in a new laboratory building that replaces the existing listed building. The Ministry of Finance has now given the building permit. The tasks of the LTZ Augustenberg in Karlsruhe are diverse. For example soils are examined for nutrients but new methods are also being developed in applied research. The country is investing around 7 million euros in the new building so that scientists can work even better in the new laboratories said Gisela Splett State Secretary for Finance. The Agricultural Technology Center Augustenberg is the central facility in the country for all studies in the agricultural sector. The focus is on nutrient investigations of soils and plants as well as the valuable nutrients in animal feed. Pollutant examinations for example for heavy metals and organic pollutants are also an integral part of the work that is being done at the LTZ. The LTZ chemical laboratories are accredited and are therefore subject to regular high quality controls said State Secretary Friedlinde Gurr-Hirsch MdL.The new building covers the need for laboratory space which has increased due to the relocation of the official feed and fertilizer tests from the State Research Center for Agricultural Chemistry at the University of Hohenheim to the LTZ Augustenberg. The previous listed building dates from 1901. The renovation of the old building for further use as a laboratory would not have made economic sense. As soon as the new building is finished the vacant areas in the existing building will be renovated and adapted for office use says Splett. The work for the new laboratory building will take around two years.
