📋 Tender Overview
The second “Urban Innovation Hub” in Baden-Württemberg opens in Konstanz and informs companies and private individuals about future technologies. The aim is to strengthen inner-city businesses such as stationary retail, restaurants and the leisure industry.
In the “Urban Innovation Hub (ugh!) Future Laboratory Konstanz”, retailers, restaurants and other service companies can experience innovative, digital solutions live. Small and medium-sized businesses can also find information and support options here to prepare themselves optimally for the future. From May 16, 2024, companies and all interested citizens can find out about future technologies that will shape the way shopping, city centers and leisure activities are organized in the future.
“That ugh! “Konstanz is intended to become the nucleus for an innovation ecosystem in the Lake Constance region that connects inner-city businesses such as stationary retail, restaurants and the leisure industry with science,” said Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut , Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism in the run-up to the opening: “These industries face challenges that can often only be mastered with innovative technologies. With the ugh! Small and medium-sized companies in the city center get access to innovations with which they can make their business model successful and future-proof. That is why we will bring the Urban Innovation Hub to the various regions of the country,” explains the minister.
Mobile innovation laboratories planned in various cities
With the ugh! A permanent facility was created in Heilbronn city center in April 2023 to support stationary retailers and other city center players in setting up new digital services. With the “ugh!” “Zukunftslabor Konstanz” also supports small and medium-sized companies in the Lake Constance region with a wide range of offers. In addition, five mobile Urban Innovation Hubs are planned this year in other small and medium-sized centers in Baden-Württemberg, which will present innovative solutions on site. As in Konstanz and Heilbronn, not only technical innovations are presented in the mobile innovation laboratories - an extensive workshop and networking program rounds off the respective exhibition offerings.
In the “ugh!” Future Laboratory Konstanz” and in the mobile Urban Innovation Hubs will show both technical innovations that have already been successfully introduced by pioneering companies in Baden-Württemberg, as well as new developments that are currently being tested: from virtual and augmented reality applications to deployment from artificial intelligence to three-dimensional applications in watch or shoe retailers and service robots for the catering industry. When selecting the exhibits, it is central that the technologies are relevant and practical for the company.
Cooperation should be strengthened
The Urban Innovation Hub is being implemented by the Smart Services Competence Center consortium and is intended to create the basis for small and medium-sized companies to cooperate more closely with universities and research institutions in the development and introduction of digital innovations. The project partners are the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization IAO , the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences and the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences , the itb - Institute for Business Management in the DHI , the Research and Innovation Center for Cognitive Service Systems (KODIS) and the University of Siegen .
