π Tender Overview
Bavaria's Health Minister Judith Gerlach is pushing forward the expansion of inpatient medical care in the Free State. Gerlach emphasized on Wednesday at the inauguration ceremony of the new women's and children's clinic at the Munich Clinic Schwabing: βProviding high-quality inpatient medical care for people is our top priority. Thatβs why we invest heavily in the clinics β including here in Munich. With the new women's and children's clinic, we are significantly improving the medical care of women and our little ones in Munich and the surrounding area. And the employees also benefit from the new building with its state-of-the-art equipment.β
The new building on the Schwabing clinic campus houses, among other things, maternity and operating areas designed according to the latest findings. Premature babies are cared for in a special neonatal intensive care unit with the most modern medical equipment. A key focus of the house is the special facility for pediatric oncology, including bone marrow transplantation.
The minister added: βWe are supporting the entire restructuring project of the Munich Clinic Schwabing with more than 82 million euros. Of this, almost 69 million euros have already been paid out for the new building of the women's and children's clinic. This is money well spent!β
Gerlach added: βWe are also firmly on the side of the hospital operator in the construction projects at the other large locations of the Munich Clinic and are supporting the projects with a total of more than 286 million euros. A completely new building is currently being built for the Munich Clinic Harlaching. A central laboratory was recently built at the Munich Clinic Neuperlach to supply all locations and the Bogenhausen location is in the middle of a large-scale overall renovation. Together with the hospital authority and the state capital, we are designing modern hospital care.β
The minister emphasized: βIt is important to us as a Free State that qualified inpatient care services are available to citizens across the board. Because hospitals are an important part of public services. We have therefore been promoting at a top level for years β in the city and in the country! Bavaria has provided more than 3 billion euros in funding over the last 5 years as part of state hospital investment financing.β
Gerlach also insisted that the hospitals be quickly supported with operating costs through an emergency aid program from the federal government: βThe economic situation of many clinics, including in Bavaria, is alarming. The federal government must finally live up to its responsibility for operating costs. Because some hospitals will no longer see the reform if Federal Health Minister Lauterbach continues to leave them out in the cold. According to dual hospital financing, the federal government alone is responsible for adequately financing operating costs.β
