📋 Tender Overview
Efficient networks are the lifeline of our time and the gateway to the world of our entire digital everyday life. For years the Free State of Bavaria has been massively committed on a voluntary basis to enable the best possible care for its citizens especially in rural areas. The fact that the Free State and local authorities are actively working together to achieve this common goal is shown by the strong commitment within the framework of the Bavarian gigabit funding. Today 15 municipalities 3 schools and 3 town halls from all over Bavaria receive a total of more than 16 million euros in funding for their digital future. With this more than 3700 addresses are to be expanded with fiber optics around 500 schoolchildren will benefit from gigabit in the future said Minister of Finance and Homeland Albert Fracker happily when the notification was sent to the municipalities.Since 2018 3765 institutions across Bavaria including 2883 public schools have been funded with around 106 million euros. With the Bavarian funding program Glass FiberWLAN Guideline all public schools in Bavaria can be connected directly to high-performance fiber optics. 90 of public schools are already gigabit-capable.With the Bavarian Gigabit Directive the Free State has paved the way and is the first region in the European Union to be able to promote fiber optic expansion where a network operator already offers at least 30 Mbits so-called grey spots. So far around 1239 municipalities have entered the funding process and 64 percent of all Bavarian households are gigabit-enabled. Bavarias ambitious goal is Gigabit throughout Bavaria by 2025.As the largest federal state Bavaria is above the national average in all areas when it comes to broadband coverage. Around 98 percent of households in Bavaria already have fast internet. After completion of all ongoing projects over 99 percent of households in Bavaria will be able to surf the Internet with high speed. When it comes to the supply of 100 Mbits and 1 Gbits Bavaria is also well above the national average 91 percent of all Bavarian households have at least 100 Mbits. In the course of Bavarian broadband funding the Free State has invested around 1.9 billion euros since 2014. This means that more than 72000 kilometers of fiber optics will be laid in Bavaria. Within the framework of their municipal planning sovereignty the municipalities decide on the use of a subsidy procedure and on the scope of the subsidy areas.
