Bavaria's Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger calls the latest economic data for German mechanical engineering "alarming" and calls for a more business-friendly policy from the federal government. According to the economic research institute Ifo, the current survey value in mechanical engineering fell to minus 14.3 points after minus 7.3 in April. Above all, the Chinese competition is affecting the domestic machine builders. Aiwanger: “Thanks to better framework conditions, the Chinese competitors can strategically undercut our manufacturers and force them out of the market. That is why our economy urgently needs a low commercial electricity price of 4 cents net, corporate taxes of a maximum of 25% and more flexible working hours plus income tax relief for employees in order to defuse the shortage of skilled workers in a targeted manner.
