At the joint session of the Foreign Relations and Defense and Security Committees the draft laws initiated by the group of members of the Parliament - On registration of foreign agents and On transparency of foreign influence were discussed.According to Guram Macharashvili one of the authors of the draft law the draft law On transparency of foreign influence initiated by the deputies ensures the transparency of foreign influence and it defines the concept of the agent of a foreign power and its registration.In order to avoid speculation we have announced that we will accept both bills in principle at the first reading then we have already announced that we will send the bills to the Venice Commission and there will be no second reading until the Venice Commission presents its conclusion thus virtually ensuring that any speculation that either One or the other draft law is Russian - it should be finished said Guram Macharashvili at the joint session of the committees.Chairman of the Agrarian Affairs Committee Nino Tsilosani took the initiative to change the name of the bill .According to him it is uncomfortable and a matter of anxiety for him to be called an agent of foreign influence.I would like to propose and ask you to discuss the name to accept it with the reservation that this name should be such that it does not discredit the many really honest organizations and people working in this field said Nino Tsilosani .At the meeting of the joint committees the deputies supported the bills and sent them to the legal affairs committee for consideration.At the end of the session the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze noted that the draft law On Transparency of Foreign Influence will be submitted to the Legal Affairs Committee on the condition that the terms will be reviewed and appropriate discussions will be held.
