On the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia a new state program for the development of cities and resorts is starting.The new program is for 5 years and one billion GEL from the state budget will be used for it.In the first stage of the program 11 locations were selected Borjomi Bakuriani Kutaisi Tskaltubo Telavi Zugdidi Batumi Mtskheta Stefantsminda Mestia and Kazbegi municipalities . In the 2023 budget 200 million GEL has already been provided for the first stage of works . The works will be carried out in several phases. The program envisages the development and renewal of the appearance of such areas of cities and resorts which will significantly increase their potential and create new centers of attraction.In the selected areas within the framework of the program rehabilitation - reconstruction and if necessary - restoration of buildings cultural and historical objects are provided both reconstruction - rehabilitation and construction of important public and cultural objects New and existing recreational spaces as well as public ones development of new meeting places and tourist attractions Critical infrastructure and engineering networks will be adjusted - including lighting irrigation drainage systems and communications Energy-efficient solutions will be actively used for lighting doors windows roofs and other important elements . as an arrangement.At the very first stage of the program the development concepts of specific areas will be worked out and also the first phase works will begin.The program will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
