At 7:35 on August 19, 2026, the Zhuque-3 Yao-2 carrier rocket was launched from the Dongfeng Commercial Aerospace Innovation Test Zone. At 7:41, the first sub-stage of the rocket successfully completed land recovery according to scheduled procedures, and the flight mission was a complete success. This mission is the first time that China has successfully implemented a land-based controlled recovery of a reusable launch vehicles first-stage landing leg after the successful recovery of a sub-stage of the Long March 10B launch vehicle at sea on July 10, marking a major breakthrough in my countrys reusable rocket technology.
The Zhuque-3 launch vehicle is a new generation of low-cost, large-capacity, high-frequency, reusable liquid oxygen methane launch vehicle model approved by the National Space Administration. It is developed by Blue Arrow Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. The rocket adopts a single-core and two-stage series configuration. The rocket body is mainly made of stainless steel and is powered by liquid oxygen methane. The total arrow length is 66.1 meters, the diameter of the first and second sub-stage rocket bodies is 4.5 meters, and the diameter of the fairing is 5.2 meters. The first stage of the rocket is equipped with a return control system, grid rudder and landing legs, which can be recovered and reused vertically after orbital launch.
During the implementation of the mission, the National Space Administration organized and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinpings important expositions and important instructions on accelerating the construction of aerospace power, resolutely implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, innovated organizational models, attracted commercial aerospace companies to participate in major national missions, continued to support key technology research, carried out special quality and safety inspections, steadily and efficiently organized and promoted the mission, and made every effort to ensure the complete success of the Suzaku-3 reusable launch vehicle go-around mission. In the next step, the National Space Administration will continue to promote the engineering application of Chinas reusable launch vehicles and effectively improve Chinas large-capacity, low-cost, and high-frequency space access capabilities.
