At the same time paving is being laid and escalators are being installed on the footbridge under construction which will connect Smichov and Radlice and provide direct access to the trains. Tracks are already being laid between the two platforms.
Construction of the modern technology building and work on the railway bridges towards the main station continues. Trains are already running on the operational track on the new structure across Nadrazni street they are using a temporary steel bridge to bridge the Horejsi nabrezi.
At the same time some parts of the future bus terminal which is an investment by the Prague municipality are being built ahead of schedule. This procedure was agreed by the Railway Administration with the city so that the subsequent construction of the entire terminal would interfere with train operations as little as possible.
The construction is now entering the next stage which will bring an earlier start of the already planned exclusion of one track between Smichov and Radotin. It was originally supposed to start on August 19 but it will now start on August 12.
In connection with the lower capacity of the line the morning trains will run between the main station and Radotin and the afternoon trains in the opposite direction by a diversion therefore they will not serve Velka Chuchli and Smichov. Other connections will skip the stop in Velka Chuchli and some morning trains connecting Radotin with Smichov will not run either. However this restriction only applies to three morning connections on working days and will not have a major impact. Passengers will be assisted by coordinators with orientation directly at the stations. The range of restrictions will then change from next Wednesday. Detailed information on individual connections is available in the applications and on the websites of individual carriers and ROPID.
The reason is the sewage drain in the area of the building which leads in a different position than the original documentation assumed and its technical condition required the addition of construction and safety measures. An earlier start of the shutdown will make it possible to avoid significantly longer traffic restrictions in the autumn months and to keep to the construction schedule.
The contractors are Metrostav TBR OHLA ZS Elektrizace zeleznik Praha and Hochtief CZ. Construction costs amount to 3888251805 crowns.
The completion date of the construction is at the end of 2028. By that time the reconstruction of the station building should already be underway which is planned for 2028 to 2030.
The implementation of the construction and the installation of modern security equipment at the Praha-Smichov station are co-financed by the EU from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program. The maximum amount of subsidy for construction will be 137083933 euros (approx. 3.3 billion crowns) and for the installation of ETCS 2846310 euros (approx. 69 million crowns). The event is also financially supported by a loan from the European Investment Bank within the Czech Rail TEN-T and Safety project. National funding is provided by the State Transport Infrastructure Fund.
