📋 Tender Overview
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency's Pori–Mäntyluoto?Tahkoluoto railway renovation project has prepared three railway plans to improve level crossing safety. The railway plans cover the entire railway section between Pori and Tahkoluoto. The prepared plans will be made publicly available in early 2024. During the coming summer and autumn, the project will also renew the Kappelinsalmi railway bridge.
The Pori–Mäntyluoto?Tahkoluoto railway section has 24 level crossings, and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency has drawn up three railway plans related to their removal and improvement. In the plans, some level crossings are proposed to be improved and some to be completely removed with replacement road arrangements. The aim of the plans is to improve the level crossing safety of the railway section.
The preparation of the railway plans has progressed to the stage where the completed railway plans will be made publicly available in early 2024. The first railway plans will be available in February and March. The availability of the plans will be announced separately on the project's website and in the local newspaper.
"Landowners living in areas with planned connections to be built or modified will also be contacted by letter. The letters will be sent during the first half of the year when the plans become publicly available," says Mikko A. Heiskanen, Project Manager at the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.
Construction will take place in 2024 and 2025
When the plans are available, it is possible to leave official reminders. The necessary information and instructions for submitting objections can be found on the project website and in letters sent to landowners during the viewing period.
The planned construction work on the removal and modification of level crossings will take place in 2024 and 2025. The status of the validity of the railway plans and the start of construction work will be announced separately. The site-specific order of construction is determined by the progress of the plans and the arrangements of the construction work.
As part of the project, the old Kappelinsalmi railway bridge in Meri-Pori will be demolished and replaced by a new one. At the moment, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency is applying for a permit under the Water Act for the renewal of the bridge. Construction is scheduled to start in late summer 2024 and last through the autumn. The construction work will have an impact on train traffic on the bridge and traffic on the boat route under the bridge. Information on impacts and arrangements during working hours will be provided during construction.
The project previously renovated the track superstructure on the entire Pori–Mäntyluoto–Tahkoluoto railway section, and the work was completed in its entirety at the end of 2022.
