Minister for Defence National Security and Policing Inia Seruiratu met with his New Zealand counterpart Peeni Henare at the Grand Pacific Hotel today.Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief HADR-related issues climate change national security natural disasters and New Zealands support for Fijis maritime security strategy were discussed at the meeting.Minister Seruiratu stated that the visit by Minister Henare has reaffirmed Fiji and New Zealands shared commitment to improving regional security.New Zealand and Fiji defence organisations have a special bond forged over decades of people to people exchanges.Minister Seruiratu added that Fiji and New Zealand have a lot to offer in the work of HADR in the Pacific region.Additionally Minister Henare said that New Zealand is keen to work with Fiji on the issues discussed during the meeting.
