📋 Tender Overview
The Ministry approved European funds for the project Improvement of the status of species and habitat types in the Natura 2000 areas Pohorje - Pohorka and Barja and wet meadows - MOCvirja. The European Regional Development Fund will contribute a total of 5.75 million euros to projects that will contribute to the restoration of endangered habitats and the preservation of biodiversity.Improvement of the state of species and habitat types in the Natura 2000 Pohorje - Pohorka areas
The project is aimed at improving the condition of species and habitat types in the Natura 2000 Pohorje area, which includes parts of the Podravka, Carinthia and Savinja regions. Pohorje is an area of exceptional natural value, recognizable by extensive forests, bogs, streams and species-rich grasslands, which have also been preserved due to the traditional use of the area.
As part of the project, measures will be implemented to improve the condition of the most endangered habitats and species. Activities will be aimed at restoring grassland, forest and wetland habitats, improving the structure of forests, restoring degraded areas and ensuring peaceful areas for wildlife. A permanent network of ecocells will also be established, which will significantly contribute to the long-term preservation of biodiversity.
The project will contribute to the preservation and improvement of the condition of 10 habitat types and more than 20 qualifying species of plants and animals, including the wild cock and the grasshopper. The implementation of the measures will reduce the pressure on the most threatened habitats and improve the ecological connectivity of the area.
For the project with a total value of 4,674,824.16 euros, the European Fund for Regional Development will contribute 3,969,189.04 euros of European funds.
Beneficiaries of funds for the project are the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Protection, the Municipality of Mislinja, the Regional Development Agency Koroska, Slovenian National Forests, d. o. o., and the Forestry Institute of Slovenia.
Swamp and wet meadows - MOCvirja
The Swamp and Wetland Meadows - MOCvirja project is aimed at improving the conservation status of habitat types and species related to bogs and wetlands in Natura 2000 areas in south-western, central Slovenia and Gorenjska.
The implementation of the project will restore and improve the habitats of endangered species and habitats. Activities will include land acquisition, establishment of appropriate site management, removal of overgrowth and invasive alien species, improvement of hydrological conditions, renaturation and adaptation of agricultural practices. The measures will be implemented on a total of 72.73 hectares of land.
The project will contribute to the improvement of the condition of three habitat types and several qualifying species whose existence is closely related to preserved wetland ecosystems. The restoration of these areas will strengthen their natural resilience and the long-term preservation of biodiversity.
For the project with a total value of 3,351,673.30 euros, the European Fund for Regional Development will contribute 1,784,751.58 euros of European funds.
Beneficiaries of the funds are the Institute for Tourism and Tourism Promotion Grosuplje, the Municipality of Crnomelj, the Municipality of Grosuplje, RIC Bela krajina and the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Protection.
