During the meeting, the results of regional childrens and youth football competitions of the 2025-2026 season were summed up and organizational issues of holding tournaments in the new sports season were discussed.
A new academic year begins, and with it - a new sports season and regional childrens and youth football competitions. For the Kharkiv region, the development of childrens and youth sports is of particular importance. Football forms discipline, responsibility, mutual respect and the ability to work for a common result. Therefore, supporting childrens teams, coaches, sports schools and competitions is not only the development of sports, but also an investment in the future of our region. Thanks to Valery Sokurenko and Serhii Bortnyk, who have been organizing summer sports camps for young football players from Kharkiv region since the beginning of the full-scale aggression. Special thanks to the heads of military administrations who participate in the organization of wellness events and the implementation of social projects for children, in particular, children of military personnel, internally displaced persons and children from large families, said Oleg Sinegubov.
In the 2025-2026 season, 77 teams from the districts of the Kharkiv region and the city of Kharkiv joined the regional football competitions.
The open football championship of the Kharkiv region among the youth sports and football clubs lasted from September 2025 to June 2026. 32 teams took part in it. In addition, two Dream Cups were held for young men: the autumn tournament brought together 21 teams, the spring one - 24 teams.
The winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded cups, medals and footballs of the Kharkiv Regional Football Association. Coaches and the best players of childrens tournaments were also honored with diplomas from the chairman of the HOAF.
The representation of the Kharkiv Region is expanding at the all-Ukrainian level. In the 2025-2026 season, the region was represented by 7 clubs in the National League of the Future, and in the new season their number will increase to 8. In addition, in the 2026-2027 season, the womens national team of the Kharkiv region will compete in the championship of Ukraine among womens teams of the First League.
The new regional football season starts on September 20. In accordance with the regulations approved by the executive committee of the HOAF on September 3, 2026, the Open Championship of the Kharkiv region among the youth football team and FC will be held in three age groups -- 2010-2011, 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 years of birth.
In October, the Dream Cup will also begin in two age groups - 2016-2017 and 2018-2019 years of birth.
Separately, the participants of the meeting considered the appeal of the management of FC Kharkiv regarding the renaming of the club and the childrens and youth football school Metalist 1925, as well as the approval of the new logo. FC Metalist 1925 has been an associate member of the Kharkiv Regional Football Association since 2016. The executive committee of the HOAF took note of the change in the clubs official name and recognized FC Kharkiv as the legal successor of FC Metalist 1925 with confirmation of its membership in the regional football association.
