According to the OSIPTEL Residential Survey of Telecommunications Services (Erestel), the use of electronic banking multiplied by more than four, after going from 18.4% in 2023 to 75.6%.Three out of every four Peruvians who use the internet do so to access electronic banking from a mobile or landline connection, according to the latest Residential Survey of Telecommunications Services (Erestel) from the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL).
This is the greatest growth observed in the different forms of internet use, since the percentage of people who carry out their operations through digital banking multiplied by more than four, after going from 18.4% in 2023 to 75.6% at the end of 2025, a figure that reveals the progress of financial inclusion and the growth of the digitalization of the economy.
This advance responds, mainly, to the consolidation of the use of digital wallets (Yape, Plin, among others) and the interoperability between banking entities, which allow financial activities to be managed more efficiently.
According to data from Erestel, there was also growth in the use of the internet to make calls through applications such as WhatsApp, Zoom, Meet, among others. which reached 82.5% of the total in 2025, which means an increase of around 30.5 percentage points compared to 2023 (52.0%).
Other forms of internet use that showed progress compared to 2023 were searching for information or consulting news (65.9%), watching videos or listening to audios without downloading them (63.3%) and checking email (46.3%).
However, 96% of those surveyed responded that they use the Internet mainly to access social networks and instant messaging, reaffirming it as the most widespread use among Internet users throughout the country.
Erestel 2025 shows that Peru is in a new phase of digital transformation, where the Internet and the digital knowledge of Peruvians to use this service are used daily to carry out fast and increasingly interoperable financial activities.
