π Tender Overview
In rural areas, internet access doubled in six years, going from 41.5% in 2019 to 85.8% in 2025.
97.2% of Peruvian households have at least one mobile device to connect to the internet.
Peru closed 2025 with important progress by registering that 96% of households already have access to fixed or mobile internet, according to the Residential Survey of Telecommunications Services (Erestel), commissioned by the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL).
The figure represents a growth of 19.8 percentage points compared to 2019 (76.2%) and confirms the upward trend in national connectivity. This means that around 10.3 million Peruvian homes are connected to the internet at the end of the previous year.
The most notable change occurred in rural areas, where access practically doubled in the last six years: from 41.5% in 2019 to 85.8% in 2025. This jump reflects how digitalization is reaching communities that were previously disconnected.
Internet access also showed greater progress in households in the DE socioeconomic sector (from 64.5% in 2019 to 93.7% in 2025), as well as in households where the head of the family is 51 years of age or older (from 67.7% in 2019 to 92.7% in 2025).
Erestel 2025 also revealed that, at the end of last year, 99.8% of households accessed at least one telecommunications service.
Pay TV and landline telephony in decline
Mobile telephony leads the presence of telecommunications services in homes with 99.6%, followed by the internet (96%). In a lower percentage, there is pay television (31.8%) and, in continuous decline, landline telephony (3.9%).
Likewise, according to the results of Erestel 2025, access to telecommunications equipment that allows fixed or mobile internet connectivity continued to expand.
At the end of 2025, 97.2% of Peruvian households have at least one mobile device to connect to the internet, with the smartphone being the device whose presence maintains the greatest growth, reaching 95.4% of households.
Erestel is the only survey dedicated to access and use of public telecommunications services in Peru. It was applied to a representative sample of households throughout Peru, both in urban and rural areas.
