📋 Tender Overview
The lifting process was carried out with a high-tonnage crane, lifting the metal structures towards the 4 towers. In the coming days it will open to the publicWork continues on the South Expressway. In accordance with the schedule of the third stage, the Municipal Company to Support Strategic Projects (Emape), an entity of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, carried out the assembly process of the second of the four provisional pedestrian bridges, called Dona Elsa, for better passability and safe access for residents, prior to the subsequent construction of the definitive pedestrian bridges.
The work carried out by Emape lasted five hours in the early hours of Tuesday, February 10. Using a high-tonnage crane, the three modules of metal structures that make up the bridge were installed, which were anchored to the four towers already fixed on the Via Expresa Sur, at Dona Elsa Street in the Surco district.
The work began with the application of safety standards for lifting cargo, in order to be able to maneuver without risks. The central walkway was raised first and then the two side ones, thus creating the bridge. Then the signage, the zebra crossing will be executed and sidewalks will be built for pedestrian traffic.
Excavations have also begun on the third provisional bridge called Los Vicus to then assemble the platforms; The installation process will be replicated on this and the fourth bridge. It is estimated that the installation of the four temporary pedestrian bridges, each 60 meters long, will be completed in approximately six weeks.
The objective of these provisional pedestrian bridges is to guarantee pedestrian traffic for residents seeking to cross safely on the Southern Expressway.
ULTIMATE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES
Once the installation of the four provisional bridges has been completed, the construction of the definitive bridges will proceed, which will be made of reinforced concrete, reinforced with metal structures in the steel beams and pillars.
They will also have concrete stairs, elevators, speed bumps at pedestrian crossings towards bridges, horizontal and vertical signage, ramps and road protection jersey walls.
Likewise, sidewalks and pedestrian paths will be built at the accesses between the auxiliary road and the main road that will improve the design of the Southern Expressway and, above all, in order to strengthen road safety.
