πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

Stenbock House, March 11 - The Estonian Government Offices Estonia.ai team will be joined by Mari-Liis Lind, Katrin Isotamm, and Luukas Kristjan Ilves, who will bring additional experience in the application of artificial intelligence in the private and public sectors, the development of the digital state, entrepreneurship, and strategic communication.

According to Kirke Maar, the head of the Estonia.ai team, expanding the team will bring new competencies and practical experience in implementing large projects to the program. The vision of the Estonia.ai initiative is to make Estonians the smartest nation in AI. Right now, Estonians are actively using artificial intelligence - our youth ranks second in Europe in its application, and when looking at the entire population, we are the fourth most diligent users of artificial intelligence. The teams task is to conceptualize how AI solutions can create the greatest value for our people and economy. We are pleased that strong experts have joined us, said Maar.

Mari-Liis Lind is a leader in technology education and innovation, who has initiated several technology communities and initiatives and has actively engaged young people and women in the technology sector. Her strength lies in bringing ideas from zero to a functioning system - creating teams, designing processes, and growing initiatives into platforms with lasting impact. She brings operational management strength and a perspective on AI ethics and risk management to the Estonia.ai team. Additionally, Mari-Liis has been a driving force in the establishment and organization of the Tallinn Digital Summit, which has made Estonia a global hub for discussions on digital transformation.

Katrin Isotamm is an entrepreneur and communication expert. She has been a co-founder of the startup Esgrid and has worked on sustainability and strategic communication initiatives in various sectors, including as the communication and ESG director for Omniva Group and Telia Estonia, and as the communication director for Swedbank Group. In her previous roles, she has dealt extensively with issues related to the societal impact of digital culture and technology. In the Estonia.ai team, Katrin leads the direction of promoting AI skills among the population.

Luukas Kristjan Ilves is an expert in digital government, technology policy, and the application of artificial intelligence, who directs the ambitions of internationally leading digital countries in AI implementation. He is the founder of the Agentic State initiative. From 2022 to 2024, he was the IT leader of the Estonian state and the deputy chancellor for digital development, previously leading Estonias digital policy work during the EU presidency, working in the European Commission, and being active in both the Lisbon Council think tank and the technology company Guardtime. Luukas has led the Council of Europes expert committee on AI ethics and human rights and created Apsakaleidja - an AI-based tool that automatically analyzes draft laws from the Riigikogu and identifies errors and contradictions within them. Luukas continues to work as an advisor on AI issues to the Ukrainian digital minister.

The Estonia.ai team will compile the initial program and work plan by April 8, when the initiatives advisory board will hold its first official meeting. The goal of Estonia.ai is to increase the value of work and the economy for the people of Estonia through systematic application of artificial intelligence.
