It allows students to understand global interdependencies, develop critical thinking, learn about contemporary issues and encourage students to commit to a more just and sustainable world. Education for global citizenship is one of the cross-curricular themes which contribute to the development of the skills essential to evolve in todays society and which are present both in the new study plan for basic education and in the school programs for secondary education. Promoting the experience of NGDOs for schools Many Luxembourg non-governmental development organizations (NGDOs) have specific expertise in the field of global citizenship education. They offer educational activities and provide educational materials to primary schools and high schools. The new Eduact platform centralizes these offers and allows teachers to directly search for and reserve relevant educational offers that best match the needs of their students. The platform highlights the activities of NGDOs approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and makes global citizenship education more accessible and more visible, while facilitating its integration into the educational practices of Luxembourg schools. All activities offered on the platform are validated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth. Reservations are made via a centralized and secure system, allowing unified management of requests and reservations. EduAct will be an integral part of the Extraklass platform which brings together all educational offers intended for schools and which will be launched from the start of the 2026/2027 school year. School must not only transmit knowledge, it must also prepare young people to become responsible and committed citizens. Education for global citizenship allows young people to better understand the challenges of our time and gives them the keys to actively engage in society. With eduact.lu, we are opening schools more to the world, underlined the Minister of National Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch. Minister Bettel, for his part, underlined: Understanding the world is already starting to change it. The eduact.lu platform gives students and teachers access to the expertise of NGDOs to train engaged and united citizens.
