📋 Tender Overview
The Directorate of Roads and Highways (RSD) has opened a 6.2 kilometer section of the D35 Ostrov - Vysoke Myto highway in the Pardubice region. Compared to the original assumptions the temporary exit behind the Homole tunnel has also been completed which will make it possible to connect to the Vysoke Myt highway bypass. The price of the building after valuation is 1.46 billion CZK without VAT most of the costs will be covered by the EU. The work lasted two and a quarter years. The Homole tunnel which will be part of the section as a separate structure will open to drivers next year before summer.
Today D35 is a step closer to being a real alternative to D1. We are opening another important section without the Homole tunnel yet which will be completed in the middle of next year. I thank the construction workers for their commitment thanks to which it was possible to open this section now before the end of the summer holidays. And I especially want to thank the residents of Ostrov. In recent weeks due to the connection of the new highway they had to put up with a detour route and increased traffic through their village. Today we can say to them: thank you for your patience the new highway is starting to serve says Transport Minister Ivan Bednarik.
The route of the Ostrov - Vysoke Myto section connects at the beginning with the D35 Casy-Ostrov section which will be used from December 2022. It includes six bridges an almost kilometer-long anti-noise wall near the village of Stradoun and four bird barriers. The Homole tunnel will not open until the summer of 2027 but thanks to the temporary exit behind the tunnel drivers will already be able to connect to the Vysoke Myt highway bypass which was put into operation by the RSD last year before Christmas. The RSD divided the construction into two stages: one is the tunnel the other is the highway section itself. The reason was to eliminate the risks if the construction of the tunnel was delayed due to the very complicated technical solution associated with the excavation of the tunnel in complex geological conditions.
It turned out to be a prudent move on our part. In the Homole tunnel the subsoil was harder than the geological survey indicated. The contractor had to deal with complications during excavation in the excavated part. But we reacted to the situation immediately and already added a temporary exit behind the tunnel to make the most of the completed section transit traffic was diverted to the highway and cars did not pass through the city of Vysoke Myto. Although last year we The D35 Vysoke Myto - Dzbanov section which serves as the basis of the city bypass was put into operation at Christmas. Some vehicles still drive through the city. Thanks to the Ostrov - Vysoke Myto section and the temporary exit the number of such cars will drop significantly said Radek Matl general director of the RSD.
The entire D35 will be almost 210 kilometers long. There are approximately 132 kilometers in operation the RSD is now building 41.3 kilometers of this highway. This year we will put into operation the over six kilometer long section Sadova - Plotiste stage 2 and we would also like to put into operation the 7.6 kilometer long section Dzbanov - Litomysl added Radel Matl. The Ministry of Transport is selecting concessionaires for the PPP project for the construction of the last two sections between Opatovec and Mohelnica which are almost 35 kilometers long.
The construction is co-financed within the Transport Program 2021-2027 (OPD3) from the Cohesion Fund.
