The Directorate of Roads and Highways (RSD) opened a 3.2-kilometer section of the D3 highway from Nazidel to the state border with Austria in the South Bohemian Region. The price of the building after valuation is approximately 1.04 billion CZK without VAT approximately 60 percent of the costs will be covered by the EU. The entire South Bohemian D3 will be ready next year.

All transit traffic will now be routed outside the municipality directly to the borders with our southern neighbors which means less noise emissions and higher safety for local residents. Thanks to the new interchange traffic in Vyssi Brod will also be significantly relieved says Transport Minister Ivan Bednarik and adds: We are continuing the completion of the South Bohemian D3 as planned. This year we will open another six kilometers between Kaplica-nadrazi and Kaplica and next year we will open the last section of the highway in the South Bohemian region says Transport Minister Ivan Bednarik.
Almost the entire section follows the route of the original road I/3. It includes three bridges. One hundred meters across the Trojan stream which will also serve as a biocorridor for forest animals. Next a bridge over a local road and stream and then a bridge at the Dolni Dvoriste interchange. Two anti-noise walls were also created. It is interesting to note that at the beginning of construction approximately seven Tatra tanks of ammunition and grenades from the Second World War were found which had to be detonated on the spot. In order to protect the critically endangered river pearl it was also necessary to design a special treatment of rain and construction water on the construction site before it flows into Mals. Rainwater is first retained in temporary sumps where sludge and sediments settle then it is cleaned by flowing over grassy areas.
Regarding the connection of the D3 to the Austrian highway for the time being there will be a temporary exit from the D3 to Austria at the border because on the Austrian side the highway is not yet being built at the border. Due to the difficulty of the construction we have divided the connecting section Kaplice - railway station - Nazidl into two parts. The less difficult one between Kaplice - railway station and MUK Kaplice will go into operation already this November. Thanks to this cars will no longer have to drive through the very unpleasant railway crossing on the I/3 road. Next year we want to open the last section of the highway up to Nazidla. At that time the D3 highway in the South Bohemian Region will be completed as a whole said Radek Matl general director of the Public Transport Administration.
Almost 100 kilometers of the D3 highway is now in operation connecting Prague with Ceske Budejovice and the Austrian border. The entire D3 highway will be almost 170 kilometers long. The RSD is intensively preparing the central Bohemian D3 which will measure 59 kilometers and around 80 percent of the land should be bought by the end of this year. This year at the same time the RSD wants to apply to the Transport and Energy Building Authority for a construction permit for all sections of Central Bohemia D3.
The construction will be co-financed within the Transport Program 2021-2027 (OPD3) from the Cohesion Fund.

The Directorate of Roads and Motorways is currently implementing a total of 246.5 kilometers of new construction. These are 163 km of highways and 83.5 km of Class I roads.
Another 92.6 km of highways and Class I roads are in the tender process.
