📋 Tender Overview
Work is underway to prepare Ukraine to receive the first Danish donation of F-16 fighter jets this summer. This is stated by the international air force coalition, which Denmark heads together with the Netherlands and the United States.
The first Danish F-16 fighter jets are expected to be handed over to Ukraine this summer.
This is the message from the international air force coalition, which, led by Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States, is coordinating the ongoing F-16 training and preparations for the handover of the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen says:
"It is difficult to set a firm timetable for the donation of F-16 fighter jets, because there are several conditions that must be met for Ukraine to use the donated aircraft. But I have informed the conciliation circle that we are now working to bring things together this summer, when we expect to be able to hand over the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine if preparations go as planned.
The final handover of the first Danish F-16 fighter jets depends, among other things, on the Ukrainian pilots and the necessary Ukrainian support personnel having been trained, as well as on the necessary logistics and infrastructure being in place in Ukraine. The International Air Force Coalition in Support of Ukraine is working hard to ensure this.
Denmark has led the coalition together with the Netherlands and the United States since the coalition's establishment in autumn 2023.
The Air Force Capability Coalition is formed in the framework of the US-led Ukraine Defense Contact Group and initially focuses on the provision of an F-16 fighter capability in Ukraine.
