Denmark Per Cent Tender

πŸ“„ Tender ID: 506397973 πŸ“… Published: 22 Jul 2024

πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

There has been a good chance of arriving on time if you have travelled by train on the Danish railway lines in the first half of 2024, with 78.5 per cent of DSB's passengers on the long-distance railway arriving on time. Over 90 percent of passengers also arrived within ten minutes of the scheduled time.

This means that punctuality is well above the target for DSB's long-distance and regional traffic. If you delve into the causes, Banedanmark is responsible for 8.6 percent of the delays, which is three percentage points lower than the target set for Banedanmark.

"I am pleased that train traffic has run well over the past six months – also in comparison with several other countries. We work around the clock with one goal in mind, and that is to get the millions of passengers who choose to take the train every year for work, visits or holidays to arrive on time. We will continue and build on this work," says Peter Svendsen, Director of Traffic at Banedanmark.

Many projects in the second half of the year
The good punctuality figures will come up to the second half of 2024, when there will be restrictions on traffic in several places.

Over the summer and autumn, Banedanmark will carry out a number of large projects in different parts of the country. In North Jutland, there are several major station and track renewal projects, at the same time as the line is being electrified and a new digital signalling system is being rolled out. In Southern Jutland and on Zealand, the tracks will be given a comprehensive makeover, where old rails, sleepers, points and crushed stones are replaced so that the track gets in better shape.

The projects are necessary so that the tracks and signalling systems do not become so worn out that they would be even more disruptive to customers than they already are, and so that the line is ready for DSB's new electric trains when they arrive.

"We know that the big projects will cause challenges in traffic. Therefore, together with the railway companies, we have drawn up a robust and adapted timetable for the sections where we work at the same time as we pass traffic. In this way, we have a good opportunity to run the traffic with the fewest possible delays and cancellations. It will require a little extra patience on the part of the passengers, but the many projects are necessary for us to be able to future-proof the Danish railway," says Peter Svendsen.

On the S-bahn, punctuality after the first half of the year is as high as 95.6 percent, which is about three percentage points above the target for how many passengers must arrive on time.

Facts
β€’ Punctuality for the first half of 2024 is at 78.5 per cent, well above the target for DSB's long-distance and regional traffic, which is 75 per cent. Both DSB and Banedanmark achieved their goals. At the same time, DSB has experienced significant customer growth. Only external factors affected punctuality more than was the objective. This was primarily due to the harsh winter weather in January, large amounts of rain in the spring, as well as acute speed reductions in connection with the snow. Tinderbox at the end of June due to the risk of people on the track.
β€’ Customer punctuality is the percentage of customers who have arrived at their arrival station with less than 3 minutes delay. A late arrival is defined as an arrival that is more than 2:59 minutes late.
β€’ Cancellations made later than 72 hours before the scheduled departure count as delayed arrivals.
