π Tender Overview
The railway track on the Oddesund Bridge which connects the mainland with Thy in the western part of the Limfjord has been given a facelift. Since May Banedanmark has replaced the obsolete railway track with a brand new track over the bridge which will keep the operation running for the next 50 years. The upgrade takes place in connection with an extensive renewal and maintenance project on the Oddesund Bridge. A project which has unfortunately been delayed as there have been challenges in sourcing the right components due to problems with the global supply lines. We are happy that trains can run over the Oddesund Bridge again and that we now have a connection that can function for many years to come. The delays on the project have been really annoying for the passengers. There is no doubt about that. This is because a number of components have been massively delayed partly due to the war in Ukraine which has made it difficult to get iron and steel components delivered. Thats why we had to extend the track work and we also think it was unfortunate but unfortunately necessary says Hanne Egeris Svendsen project manager at Banedanmark. In connection with the track renewal Banedanmark has painted the bridge structure under the track. In addition the bridge flap and the two first bow section has been cleaned and maintained over the past years. The trains are running againWhile the work to renew and maintain the railway track on the Oddesund Bridge continued Arriva deployed train buses on the Thybanen. Now that Banedanmark is opening the new track passengers can once again take the train across the water. And Therese Christensen commercial manager at Arriva is pleased. We are very happy that it is once again possible for Arrivas passengers on the Thybanen to take the direct train connection between Thy and the mainland. The trains will run again from today November 21.
