πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

More people feel safe in their neighbourhood. This is shown by the Ministry of Justices Safety Survey for 2021. However citizens in particularly vulnerable residential areas and young people under the age of 30 feel less safe than others. Many citizens feel fundamentally safe in their neighbourhood. This is evident from the Ministry of Justices Safety Survey for 2021 where 88 percent of citizens throughout Denmark respond that they feel safe in their neighbourhood. This is an increase compared to the safety survey in 2019 where 86 percent felt safe in their neighbourhood.Minister of Justice Mattias TesfayeIt is very important to me that all citizens can feel safe in their own neighbourhood. Thats why I was happy when I saw the results of the survey. But at the same time I can read that there are still significant problems. Far too many residents in vulnerable residential areas are unsafe. Just as we should not accept that so many young people feel unsafe in places such as streets paths green areas parks and playgrounds as well as stations and bus stops. The study shows that the proportion of citizens who are safe in their neighborhood increases with age. Thus 91 percent of citizens who are 65 years of age or older feel safe in their neighborhood while the corresponding figure for young people 15-29-year-olds is 85 percent. It also appears that stations and bus stops as well as footpaths are the types of places where most citizens feel unsafe. 21 percent of the participants in the survey answer that they are unsafe at stations at stops and on footpaths.Minister of Justice Mattias Tesfaye saysIt must be a good and safe experience to travel by public transport regardless of the time of day. This is obviously not the case for many travellers which we need to do something about. Among other things from 1 August DSB has been given the opportunity to deploy guards at selected S-train stations and at the same time we are increasing and improving surveillance at the stations. In relation to the safety of citizens in particularly vulnerable residential areas the study shows that only 70 percent feel safe in their neighbourhood. This is the same level as in 2019 but a significantly smaller proportion than among citizens in the rest of Denmark in 2021.At the same time more citizens in particularly vulnerable residential areas feel unsafe in certain types of places in their neighborhood than citizens in the rest of the country. This applies both in your own home on the street on paths in squares and squares in green areas parks and playgrounds and in other places in the neighbourhood. One in three citizens in particularly vulnerable residential areas has experienced rocker gang activity in their neighbourhoodThe survey also indicates that significantly more citizens in the particularly vulnerable residential areas have experienced rock and gang activities in their neighbourhood. This applies to 32 percent of citizens in the particularly vulnerable residential areas while the same applies to 11 percent of citizens in the rest of Denmark.Minister of Justice Mattias TesfayeIt makes a big impression on me that a third of the citizens in particularly vulnerable residential areas have experienced gangs or rockers in their neighbourhood. It must never become normal that there is open hashish sales or threatening behavior from hardened criminals when ordinary people just have to go down to Brugsen and shop. The residents deserve that we intensify efforts against organized crime. We already have hundreds of rockers and gang members in prison. But there are still many at large. It is therefore very important to me that we strengthen efforts against their criminal behaviour. At the same time we will do more to prevent gangs from recruiting new young members. It will be one of my biggest priorities in the autumn.BackgroundIn 2021 the Ministry of Justice conducted a questionnaire survey on security and trust in the police among the citizens of Denmark. The investigation is a continuation of the Police Safety Investigation which the National Police conducted seven times in the period from 2013 to 2019.The questionnaire survey answered by 27510 people is based on the same questions that were asked in the 2013-2019 surveys about citizens basic sense of security in their neighborhood and their confidence that the police will help them if they need it. The survey has also been expanded with a number of questions regarding types of places and behavior that the respondents may feel unsafe about.
