πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

The government proposes a new masters landscape at Danish universities. There must be several different masters paths for university students high quality and flexible opportunities for further education. The proposal is part of an overall new reform plan in the field of education. In the future the students will be met by a landscape with several masters paths and new opportunities to improve their skills throughout their lives. And then there must be better access for international students in areas where the business community demands highly specialized labor. These are the ambitions of the initiative Prepared for the Future I which is the governments first initiative in a new coherent reform course in the field of education. The initiative aims to future-proof an education system that generation by generation has made Danes better and given them more opportunities but which also still has unresolved challenges.Today one in four young people is expected to complete a university degree. In 1990 it was one in ten. The vast majority take the same path regardless of whether they are going to enter the private or public labour market or go down the research route. At the same time many students find that the transition to the labour market is difficult and that the opportunities to take a Masters degree while working are limited. Therefore the government is proposing a number of new flexible university routes with varying lengths different degrees of specialisation and new further education opportunities.New flexible university pathsAgainst this background the Government proposes an overall reform of university education in Denmark with the following elementsA new flexible masters degree landscape where students are offered both new 12-year masters programs with a clear labor market aim more and more flexible vocational masters programs 3-year masters programs with specialization and new highly specialized masters programs of up to years of study.A targeted investment in the quality of university education.New opportunities to improve ones skills later in life when it fits into work and private life.More international students in areas where the Danish business community demands highly specialised labour.A masters partnership with universities and the business community to get the new business masters programmes developed and off to a good start.A candidate committee that among other things will work on concretizing the new candidate pathways.A significant priority in the university area and children young people and educationWith the reform the government proposes to prioritise DKK 950 million annually within the university area.Priority is given to DKK 600 million annually in a new flexible graduate landscape with more paths high quality and better bachelor programmes. The Government is also planning to allocate DKK 250 million for new and better further education opportunities for the student who has completed a Masters degree programme in 1 1001 academic years and DKK 35 million for more international students.Overall the government will invest more in children and young people. Therefore approximately DKK . billion will be given permanent priority to children young people and education.A coherent path of reform in the wider fieldPrepared for the future I is the first initiative in a new coherent reform course in the field of education where the government will look at the entire education system. From primary school to universities. In the higher education area professional and vocational education and training must be strengthened the education system must be changed so that it provides more opportunities breaks down barriers and creates real coherence and then an overall long-term plan for the higher education area must be drawn up.Minister for Higher Education and Science Christina Egelund saysThe government wants to future-proof our entire education system. The students should feel that there is a meaningfulness with their education in relation to what they are going to do afterwards. Therefore we make differentiated and more flexible educational paths. The choice of education must feel less definitive because there will actually be more flexibility in it. The challenges we face have not been solved by one reform. This requires that we dare to look at our entire education system. Prepared for the future I is the first initiative in a new coherent reform course in the field of education where the government in addition to a significant priority in the university area overall will invest significantly in children young people and education.Minister for Children and Education Mattias Tesfaye saysToday the government presents the first proposal of several to ensure more quality for pupils and students. Later we will present policies to help the 42 000 young people without education or work. Just as we want to invest in a more practical primary school for the benefit of all children and strengthen vocational education. Therefore I am also very pleased that with todays proposal there will be more than a billion that can be reinvested in children young people and education.Minister for Economic Affairs Troels Lund Poulsen saysThe government is a reform government. We want to future-proof our country and create better opportunities for all. We want to strengthen education and make it even more relevant to the labour market and business. At the same time we want to give students more flexibility so that career paths can be opened rather than closed in our education system. That is why we are presenting a proposal for a reform of university education that will create a stronger link between study and working life.
