News news lanchion Before March 5 2025 ProRail works in the Schipholspoort tunnel from 12 March to 27 March. As a result fewer trains run to and from Schiphol Airport station. We replace 1200 meters traditional block track with an innovative rail construction: the prefab beam and record track. We developed this solution together with partners especially for the Schipholspoort tunnel. The track needs a longer lifespan and less maintenance. Traditional track replacing since 2022 a lot of work is being done in the Schiphol rail tunnel for the Major Maintenance project. A mega job that preceded years of preparation. In addition to all those preparations and the work ProRail construction combination SVS (Strukton Volker Schiphol) and various other contractors have also been working on this innovative rail construction in the past two years. To make the entry and exit for travelers easier the tracks at Schiphol Airport station must be increased. And that does not work with the traditional block track that lies in the railway tunnel. We have a solution with a longer service life. Where the traditional track has a lifespan of 25 years the prefab beam railway lasts more than 60 years. This means less maintenance and more reliability for travelers. With the prefab beam and record track we can increase the tracks at Schiphol Airport station. Consequences of train traffic. Work can run fewer trains from via and to Schiphol Airport. From Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 March there are also fewer trains from the Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam RAI stations. Travelers must take extra pressure into account. On Thursday morning March 27 we are ready and the trains run again according to the normal timetable. We advise travelers to consult the travel planner in advance and where possible to travel outside rush hour.
