Thanks to the repair, the construction and technical condition of the line will be improved and safety will be increased. An important part of the project is the revitalization of the rack and pinion railway in the inter-station sections and its reinstallation at the Dolní Polubný station.
Contracts for work with suppliers will be concluded this year, and the tender is already underway. By the end of the year, specific components of racks and steel sleepers will be produced, and next year both constructions will be implemented in a parallel closure.
On the Polish side, the project includes the replacement of rails in the section Szklarska Por?ba Górna – state border in the length of a total of 13.294 km and the safeguarding of two level crossings and their control from the Szklarska Por?ba Górna station. The implementation of the Czech and Polish parts of the project will take place by 2027.
The renovation of the so-called cog railway is the largest investment project of the Interreg programme. The Railway Administration will receive the subsidy on the basis of a subsidy agreement, which will be concluded with the Ministry for Regional Development in February this year. The Polish partner of the project will implement the construction through the Lower Silesian Road and Railway Administration (DSDiK). On the Czech side, Správa železnic cooperates with the Liberec Region and KORID LK.
The budget of the entire project is EUR 23.4 million, of which EUR 18,857,810 (CZK 452,498,651) is the costs of the Railway Administration. Správa železnic will receive a subsidy from EU funds and national funds provided by the Ministry for Regional Development in the amount of up to 80.7% of eligible costs, i.e. CZK 367,714,875.
