Last weekend, Sprรกva ลพeleznic carried out load tests of the ETCS system. The venue for the night tests was a part of the second corridor between B?eclav and Starรฉ M?sto near Uherskรฉ Hradiลกt?. Almost twenty locomotives and other vehicles equipped with the mobile part of the ETCS were used on both nights.
The load test was managed by dispatchers from the Central Traffic Control Centre (CDP) P?erov in cooperation with the suppliers of the entire system.
On the first night, there were 76 trips of test trains, where one emergency stop occurred due to technical reasons. It will only be possible to determine the exact cause on the basis of precise analyses of diagnostic records. We also noticed an emergency stop of the train due to incorrect operation by the driver, here the ETCS reacted completely correctly and safely.
During the second night, a total of 72 test train rides took place in four groups, this time with a balance of four emergency train stops for technical reasons. After a detailed analysis, it will become clear whether it was a breakdown of the connection or some other cause. In one case, a signal in front of a train was switched off and an emergency stop was triggered. It was a correct and safe response of the ETCS system to the situation.
In addition, cases of incorrect loading of balises by train on one balise group have been identified, but without affecting the safety and availability of the system. These balises will be measured and possibly replaced with new ones.
