On Thursday, July 25, 2024, as part of the actions celebrating the 60 years of the establishment of the National Guard (NG), a demonstration of operational capabilities was carried out by personnel and means of the force.
The demonstration took place in the area of Zygi, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the Minister of Defence, Mr. Vasilis Palmas, the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsicostas, members of the House Standing Committee on Defence, the Hierarchy of the National Guard General Staff, a delegation of executives, as well as a large number of people.
During the demonstration, parachute drops, helicopter passages, special operations actions, tactical movements of sections on main weapon systems, as well as combat support actions were performed, among many others, while virtual fire was also carried out using blanks and smoke bombs.
The demonstration is part of the festive events and activities scheduled to take place in all cities of Cyprus for the completion of 60 years of the National Guard.
