My Office carried out an administrative audit on websites of Ministries/ Deputy Ministries/ Departments/ Services/ Independent Offices of the Public Sector.
The control sample concerned 28 Public Sector websites.
The object of the audit was the evaluation of the completeness and correctness of the information of the Data Protection Policy - privacy policy on the website of each audited entity, the degree of compliance with the provisions of transparency and information of data subjects in compliance with the provisions of Chapter III of the General Regulation on the Data Protection, (EU) 2016/679, as well as the control of posting the information of the Data Protection Officer of the controlled entity in a distinct place on the home page of each entity.
The audit began around October 2022 and was completed in April 2023, without however achieving full compliance of all audited entities.
The initial findings of the audit showed the following figures:
17 entities, a percentage of 60%, were evaluated with a low level of compliance, since they did not have a Data Protection Policy posted on their website, nor the contact details of the Data Protection Officer.
11 entities, a percentage of 40%, were evaluated with a moderate level of compliance, since they had posted a Data Protection Policy, which, however, presented gaps, inaccuracies and deficiencies, and the contact details of the Data Protection Officers, were not posted in a distinct place on their original website.
In August 2024, the audit process was successfully completed, as full compliance of all audited entities was achieved based on the recommendations and indications set.
