Published Oct. 30, 2026 By Senior Airman Jessica Mun 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea (AFNS) -- U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ken Wilsbach and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force David Wolfe visited Osan Air Base, Oct. 22, gaining firsthand insight into how Team Osan integrates operations, maintenance and support capabilities to sustain readiness on the Korean Peninsula. Osans ability to fight tonight depends on mission sets operating as one connected team. Command and control transforms information into operational decisions, maintainers keep aircraft available for sortie generation, civil engineers preserve the airfield, and medical and family support programs help keep Airmen ready to execute the mission. I always appreciate the folks who are over here doing a really hard mission, as close to the action as you can possibly be, Wolfe said. The professionalism and determination you have to make sure this mission stays up on step is always impressive. Wilsbach and Wolfe held an all-call with Airmen at the base theater, connecting Osan ABs mission to the Air Forces priorities of readiness, modernization, and taking care of Airmen and families. The leaders answered questions about infrastructure, enlisted development and artificial intelligence. Wilsbach described readiness as both an organizational and individual responsibility. Commanders are responsible for preparing their units to accomplish assigned missions, while Airmen must remain physically, mentally and spiritually prepared to contribute. If you can do that mission, youre ready, Wilsbach said. You cant contribute to unit readiness unless youre personally ready yourself. Modernization also extends beyond acquiring new aircraft, weapons and communication systems. Wilsbach encouraged Airmen to identify practical improvements that make daily processes faster and more effective, while Wolfe discussed using super intelligence responsibly to improve efficiency without removing human oversight. Reliable infrastructure remains essential to sustaining operations throughout the Pacific. Airfields, facilities and support systems enable the wing to generate aircraft, protect personnel and continue operating during a contingency. Infrastructure is really important to us in the Air Force because our bases are our power projection platforms, Wilsbach said. Continued investment in those installations strengthens the Air Forces ability to generate combat power and respond across the Pacific. Readiness also depends on supporting the families behind the mission. Cindy Wilsbach and Dr. Doniel Wolfe met with Team Osan spouses during a spouse all-call that included a brief on the Presidents Military Spouse Commission program. The engagement allowed spouses to share concerns, discuss issues affecting military families and learn about resources available throughout the installation. Leadership development, medical care and child care further support the force by preparing frontline supervisors, protecting the health of Airmen and helping families remain resilient. Together, these services reduce barriers that could affect an Airmans ability to remain focused on the mission. Wolfes engagements across Osan AB included an air operations center demonstration, a visit with the 51st Maintenance Group, an Airman Leadership School immersion at the professional development center, and stops at the child development center, 51st Medical Group and Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery pad. At each location, Airmen briefed Wolfe, demonstrated their capabilities and discussed how their work supports Team Osans mission readiness. Thank you for serving here in Korea and at Osan Air Base, Wilsbach said. Im so proud of you, and Im thankful I get to be on your team. The visit demonstrated how Team Osan combines operational capability, resilient infrastructure, trained Airmen and family support to defend the installation, support the joint force and remain ready to fight tonight. Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force David Wolfe and Dr. Doniel Wolfe read a book to children during a tour of the child development center at Osan Air Base, South Korea, Oct. 22, 2026.
