The new construction of the 487 passenger ship for polar expeditions Ultramarine worth 106 million euros was launched on Saturday in the Shipbuilding Industry Split and the Minister of Economy Darko Horvat stated that it is the largest Croatian export product.The ship was launched by godmother Andrea Mutak a member of the Angels Association who takes care of children with the most severe physical disabilities and developmental difficulties. And the third state guarantee will soon be returned to the budgetMinister Horvat pointed out that during the mandate of this government there were three projects that received a state guarantee of which two projects were delivered and state guarantees were returned to the state budget. Todays project is the third in a row 70 percent completed and he is sure that in the next few months the state guarantee they gave for that ship will be returned to the state budget. It is a simple philosophy of how we have functioned in these three years. Brodosplit proves that shipbuilding in Croatia can be profitable. On this ship the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development has earned interest the local community and the state benefit budget as well as other public services Horvat said. Brodosplit director Tomislav Debeljak explained that Ultramarine was contracted with the American company Quark Expeditions part of the Travelopia group. It is 128 meters long and 21.5 meters wide and will be able to accommodate up to 200 passengers who will be taken care of by 140 crew members in 103 luxuriously decorated cabins and public spaces. The value of the ship is more than 106 million euros and the loan for its construction was provided by the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development HBOR while the guarantee was given by the Government with its decision of 16 May 2018. Debeljak noted that despite the pandemic they were not late but did everything on time and the delivery of the ship should be at the end of the year. We have contracted a ship that is the biggest luxury ie the largest yacht in the world and is twice the size of the famous Amorella and Isabella. Brodosplit has filled the state budget with four billion kuna in the last ten years and together with the DIV group in the same period a total of six billion kuna. So far the total number of state guarantees has been 150 million euros and everything has been returned Debeljak explained.
