π Tender Overview
The Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN) launches the National and Regional Development Observatory on its 60th Anniversary. At this event, the ambassador of the European Union in Costa Rica, Pierre-Louis Lempereur, highlighted the joint work between the EU and the country, work that has resulted in benefits for the population with a view to social and territorial cohesion.
Within the framework of the sixtieth anniversary of the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy, the European Union extends its congratulations for the presentation of the Observatory of National and Regional Development (ODNR), an innovative resource whose main objective is to provide statistical information, maps, studies and high-quality research on the country's reality. This launch marks an important milestone in the continued cooperation between the European Union and Costa Rica, highlighting the shared commitment towards sustainable development and the promotion of social and territorial cohesion.
The ODNR, by bringing together up-to-date data and resources in an accessible manner, forms a valuable instrument to guide informed decision-making in areas crucial to social, economic and environmental development. The European Union, recognizing development planning as an essential system in public affairs, celebrates this joint effort that reflects the convergence of objectives between both parties and that will contribute to the strengthening of strategic planning and the implementation of effective measures to address challenges current and future.
In its joint work with Costa Rica, the EU supports the objective of social and territorial cohesion through the European Structural and Investment Funds, thus contributing to a Europe that is smarter, greener, connected, social and closer to its citizens. In this framework, the creation of this observatory takes on special relevance considering that the National Regional Development Law of Costa Rica has been inspired by the European Regional Policy and one of the most emblematic cooperation programs of the European Union, EUROsociAL, has played a fundamental role in accompanying the process of drafting and approving this law over 9 years.
The ODNR initiative not only represents a step forward in the implementation of the National Regional Development Law of Costa Rica, but also highlights the importance of international cooperation in building more equitable and resilient societies. In this way, the European Union reaffirms its commitment to continue collaborating closely with Costa Rica to achieve common goals and build a more prosperous and sustainable future for all.
