Provias Nacional, the executing unit of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, continues with the work to address the road emergency at km 523+350 of the Conococha - Catac route, in the Ancash region, where the installation of the Collota modular bridge is being carried out.
As part of the intervention, work is being done on the installation of a modular bridge approximately 30 meters long, which will allow safe vehicular circulation on this important road corridor.
The emergency arose after the collapse of the Collota bridge, 10 meters long, caused by the undermining of one of its abutments due to the extraordinary increase in the flow of the stream, as a result of the intense rains recorded in the area.
Through the Ancash Zonal Unit, specialized technical personnel carry out the installation work, the assembly of the modular structure and the provision of access, allowing connectivity to be recovered in the shortest possible time.
It should be noted that, in order to restore passability and transport safety conditions in the area, work is being done on the installation of this provisional structure that triples the size of the collapsed bridge, which will guarantee movement along this road.
In a second stage, the execution of interventions in river defense is planned, with the aim of protecting the road infrastructure against future hydrological events and reducing the risk of new effects. The start of these works is scheduled for the next few days, in addition the demolition of the collapsed bridge will be carried out.
It should be noted that both stages are independent, which has allowed immediate progress in the recovery of traffic.
Provias Nacional maintains permanent monitoring of the area and urges drivers to respect the signs and follow the instructions of the personnel in the field, in order to guarantee safety during the operation of the bridge and the development of complementary interventions.
